The fifth installation in Radio Disney's Jams series crowds a crop of powder-puff pop culled from the airwaves onto one disc. Expect the usual genre twitches: 3 Doors Down's "Kryptonite" and Simon and Milo's power punk "Get a Clue" stomp off in a rock direction; Baha Men's "Move It Like This" and Play's pulsing remake of "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" stir a thimbleful of dance into the mix; and 3LW's "Playas Gon' Play" and Aaron Carter's work-the-crowd "Oh Aaron" run with an urban-R&B vibe. Otherwise, it's straight-ahead pop here, courtesy of such staples as Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. In what's becoming a Jams custom, each of the acts still climbing toward shriek-and-squeal status aims to sound like somebody else, with Britney, J. Lo, and P Diddy flourishes flitting from track to track. Also, the tech-y references at times feel icky given the target crowd (Christina Milian's "Call Me, Beep Me," LMNT's lament for the unpageable "Juliet"), but try to dash these ditties from your short-term memory. They're as tough to scrape away as tape from the back of a bedroom poster; that they're just as paper-thin is part of the fun. --Tammy La Gorce
